Membership

What brings members together?

  1.  Members are brought together by the desire to further peace building, conflict transformation and justice in the Rwenzori region in particular and Uganda in general.
  2.  Desire to a build a stronger forum as an avenue for furthering peace building, conflict transformation and justice

Scope of membership

RFPJ membership members shall be selected from

  1.  Rwenzori region, Albertine Graben and
  2. Other parts of Uganda.

Types of Membership

There shall be three types of membership namely;

  1. Full membership
  2. Associate membership
  3.  Honorary membership

Full membership

  1. RFPJ’s full membership shall be a preserve of legally registered national and local NGOs, FBOs and CBOs with the mandate to promote peace building, conflict transformation and justice from atleast each district of Rwenzori region.
  2. National and local NGOs, FBOs and CBOs applying to be an RFPJ member should be located or operating in the Rwenzori region.
  3. The organization applying to be a member should have existed or operated in the Rwenzori region for at least 3 years at the time of applying.
  4. A member should have the capacity to contribute financially and non-financially to the goals and objectives of RFPJ.
  5. The non-financial contribution may include; intellectual contribution, material contribution, skills and any other relevant contribution.
  6. The member should be able and willing to fulfil all aspects related to membership as stipulated in the RFPJ constitution.
  7. The member shall have a proven track record of furthering peace building, conflict transformation and justice related work
  8. The member’s objectives should reinforce RFPJ’s strategic goals and objectives
  9. The member should present a greater possibility of undertaking joint engagements with RFPJ to further peace, justice and conflict transformation.
  10. The member should be strategically positioned to further RFPJ’s strategic goals and objectives
  11. The member should exhibit a stronger internal governance system and outstanding performance in peace building, justice and conflict transformation activities.

Associate membership

  1.  Associate members may be individuals or legally registered local, national and international organisations, the private sector, institutions, or groups whose interest, work and experience relate to the mandate of RFPJ.
  2. The associate member should be located or operating in Uganda
  3. The work, interest and experience of associate members must further the goals, aspirations and values of RFPJ.
  4. Associate members shall have voting rights but shall not be elected on the RFPJ Board.
  5. The member should be able and willing to fulfil all aspects related to membership as stipulated in the RFPJ constitution.
  6. The member should present a greater possibility of undertaking joint engagements with RFPJ to further peace, justice and conflict transformation.
  7. The member should be strategically positioned to further RFPJ’s strategic goals and objectives
  8. The member should exhibit a stronger internal governance system and outstanding performance in peace building, justice and conflict transformation activities.
  9. Individual associate members should;

a)      Have expertise in the fields of peace building, justice and conflict transformation activities.

b)      Have impeccable personal and professional integrity.

Honorary membership

  1. The honorary membership shall be bestowed upon individuals, organisations, institutions or any other bodies that subscribe to and can contribute to the furtherance of RFPJ’s strategic goals and objectives.
  2. The powers to bestow honorary membership shall be vested in the General Assembly upon recommendation from the RFPJ Board.

Process for membership application, admission and members’ participation in RFPJ activities

Process for Membership application

  1. Any interested member shall in writing express interest to be a member of RFPJ to the RFPJ Board
  2. Upon expression of interest, the applicant shall receive copies of the RFPJ constitution, membership application form, membership policy, strategic plan and any other relevant documents.
  3. Within one calendar month after receiving the above documents, the applicant shall return the filled membership application form to RFPJ.
